Martha R. had recently tested and found out she had high radon levels and wanted to have it mitigated. Martha had already had another local company come out, but she wasn't quite satisfied. She was concerned with the glue and caulking because she is very sensitive to chemicals and sometimes has reactions. The company she called didn't seem very concerned with the condition and didn't seem interested in taking any precautions. She then found ALS Property Associates, Inc. online and decided to give them a try. Doug from ALS came out and met with her and her husband. He completed a thorough inspection then took the time to show them a presentation and provided lots of information and literature. Not only did Doug take the time to show the process, but he listened to and understood Martha's chemical sensitivities. As an indoor air quality specialist, he understood and developed a plan to help reduce the risk of any reactions. Even though ALS was a bit more expensive than the competitor, Martha and her husband decided to go forward with the project. 

The ALS Property Associates, Inc. team installed a radon depressurization system with an exterior fan. The ALS team also patched a section of missing concrete which was an entry point for radon gas.  During the mitigation they ventilated the basement with fresh air from a HEPA Air scrubber, used VOC free PVC glue, and glued as much as possible outdoors. 

Following the installation of the radon mitigation system Martha wasn't only happy with the 0.5 pCi/L post radon test, but she also didn't experience any reactions due to the safety precautions the ALS team took. ALS Property Associates, Inc. was not only proud of the work they completed, but happy they were able to keep Martha happy and safe.
