Ron S. recently contacted us to have radon testing completed in his home in Marshall, MI. People in his family had recently been staying in the basement and he wanted to make sure the radon levels were safe. Following a short term 48 hr test, Ron's radon levels came back at 10.5 pCi/l. It was important for Ron and his wife to properly have the radon levels mitigated. 

Ron and his wife had our team inspect and provide a bid to mitigate the radon levels in their home. We found areas of the slab that had cracks, along with a well room that had its own foundation walls. Quality and appearance, along with an extended warranty were very important to Ron. He also wanted to have a Breathe EZ Air Cleaner installed to help filter radon decay procucts. We ended up bidding to install (2) extraction points which would include one in the well room. We advised the client that after running diagnostics we would determine if we could get away with one extraction point to save them money.

After running diagnostics of the basement slab, we found we were properly communicating with the well room of the basement and we would only need to install (1) suction point to properly mitigate the radon levels. We strategically installed a mitigation system in the utility room which included sealing of all cracks throughout the concrete slab. The schedule 40 piping was run outside to the low voltage radon fan. We installed an exterior aesthetic package running the vent piping through the soffit and roof instead of around the gutter. This helped make the system look more aesthetically pleasing and was also located near the other utilities in the back of the home. This system was also equipped with a fan moisture guard extending the 5-year warranty to a 10-year warranty. This system was professionally installed and as always we only used the highest quality parts and schedule 40 piping. Along with the sub-slab depressurization system, we installed a Breathe EZ Air Filter. This filter is installed in the furnace replacing your existing filter and used electricity to capture particles. The Breathe EZ filters radon decay products, mold spores, viruses, and other particulates helping to improve the overall air quality of their home. 

Ron and his wife were extremely happy with the finished product. Everything was professionally installed and strategically placed to not only effectively reduce radon levels, but also be pleasing to the eye. After having post testing completed, we effectively lowered the radon levels from 10.5 to 0.9 pCi/l.
